BPW Geelong presents Carolyn Bayliss Co-Owner of Green Onions Organic Grocer
Caroline Bayliss left the corporate world to co-found a sustainable organics business “Green Onions”
Caroline is an experienced sustainability professional whose experience spans the corporate, academic, and not for profit sectors. With a background in law, corporate affairs, government relations and stakeholder engagement, Caroline’s areas of expertise include sustainability strategy, assessments and reporting, climate policy and carbon management. She has served as the Australian Director of The Climate Group – a global, not for profit organisation driving transformational action on climate change – and as a Director of Global Sustainability at RMIT University.
Caroline is also a dedicated advocate of quality, affordable organic food. Currently she is the co-owner and co-founder of Green Onions, an organic food store in East Malvern. Caroline feels seasonal organic fresh produce provides a window to a wide range of sustainable issues, from health and nutrition, fair trade, waste and recycling, food miles and global supply chains, to GMOs.
Pro-bono work has been an important part of Caroline’s professional life, and has served on a number of not-for-profit boards and advisory committees in the sustainability space. Caroline is equally passionate about gender equality, and the advancement of women in the workplace and in broader society. She is the current BPW Melbourne President, and in 2016 was awarded the BPW Australia Award for Outstanding Leadership by a Club President.
